Pylon Telecom Solutions specializes in formal project management, risk management, and
telecommunications services in a commercial, public works, and government sectors for both
classified and unclassified networks. We do not just install your requirements. We properly
manage it throughout the entire life cycle. Project management in telecommunications projects
and services in general is becoming ever increasing. Practicing Earned Value Management (EVM)
continuously throughout the project life cycle prevents unwanted costs, detects potential
outside of scope costs and risks, and brings the project back on track using specialized
methodologies. Developing and analyzing the project(s) associated tasks prior to the start will
allow for a proper risk management plan to be developed and implemented to overcome
potential milestones. Fiber optics is a highly detailed and demanding industry. We ensure the
process is implemented correctly. In addition, we thoroughly review the project(s) scope of
work (SOW), develop the project time line, analyze the critical path for probabilities of success
prior to taking on the project, identify potential project risks, and create our project
management plan. We are not limited to just installation. We do fusion and mechanical splicing,
polishing and tipping, testing and certification, as well as characterization of entire networks.
We are also manufacturer certified. We can also assist you in providing formal training and
certification in network cabling and fiber optics.

                                            What are Fiber Optics?  

Fiber optic technology makes use of light to carry digital signals via optical cables. Fiber
optic cables are very thin glass wires made from extremely pure optical glass. This
technology is based on the concept of light reflection. In the case of fiber optics
technology, light carrying digital signals is reflected inside the optical cable to transfer
information. Total internal reflection is the principle behind the success of this

There are two types of fiber optic cable transfer methods; Singlemode and Multimode.

Singlemode carries light over longer distances.
Multimode carries light over shorter distances.

There are several types of fiber optic cable applications that can be implemented, and
are dependent upon the required application.
